We are in the process of ordering our new 2011 Cameo 36FWS and are trying to figure out which options we want/don't want.  We want the all lino option which means we can't get HPL wood look floor in the kitchen, it will ALL be lino.  Unfortunately we can't get HPL throughout according to the dealer.  Does anyone else have this option?  I'm trying to figure out what the lino will look like with the River Canyon interior...anyone know where I can get pics?  What about blackout shades in living room and kitchen?  We have day/night shades in our Everest and we survive just fine w/o blackouts.  I really don't think black out shades would be relevant in the living area.  Anyone have input on this?

So far we want to order (besides the standard options of the Bigfoot, Luxury, and Performance Packages) central vac, fireplace, all lino living room, Astro-foil, Main A/C heat pump, fantastic fan w/o rain sensor, keyless entry, 4 door reefer, convection micro, island (no split), mor/ryde pin box, dual pane windows, raised axles for 4wd truck.  So far those are all.  Don't think I need the 2nd A/C and I really like the Silverstone paint but can't justify the added 6K for it.  Anyone have anything they wish they would've got on theirs that you don't see on mine?

Thanks!

Naturally everyone's "want list" is different . . .  but think about the things that would be difficult or more expensive to modify after the build.

We also ordered disk brakes, Goodyear G rated tires with larger 110 psi rims, I/S suspension, 2nd fantastic fan in bathroom, bike receiver, Generator prep, water purifier and extra TV cabling that would allow the back TV to run off of the same satellite receiver as the entertainment center.

You definitly want the 2nd ac.  In our 32FWS, the main air will not cool the camper below 80°.  As far as the blackout shades, they do not blackout very well in the bedroom on ours.  Basically, they are the day/night shades without the day portion.

jcpainter's advice is very good. Anything that it is difficult to retrofit and you think you might want, you should order. What is standard and what is optional has probably changed some since we ordered, but even if you don't think you want the 2nd A/C and a washer/dryer, make sure you have prep for them. If there is a chance you may want a generator or solar later, then prep for those items. If you think you might get a satellite dish, having two sets of coax to both the enterertainment center and bedroom (for PVR) would be useful. 2nd fantastic fan in bathroom is recommended, the standard fan was fairly useless. If it's in the budget, disc brakes, IS, and the G-rated tires are all worthwhile IMO.

Thanks y'all!  We will take all that into consideration.  I wanted to the 2nd a/c but the wife didn't...after she read your posts looks like I will be getting it now!  haha!  Gotta love it!  Now y'all just need to sell the fact I need to sell my 350 for a 450 or 550.  I've been working on that for a couple of years with no luck. You are looking at buying the heaviest Cameo, and the 550 would be a much safer way to go.  You can try that one.

We just got back from the dealer yesterday.  They told me they thought the all lino option didn't actually make the entire living room/kitchen carpet free on the 36FWS.  I understand the carpet on the slides must stay and am fine with that.  But they said the perimeter of the living room will remain carpeted with just a center strip of lino down the middle.  Seems to me that would look odd.  Does anyone know for sure what the all lino option actually covers with lino?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,
Are you going to be full time?  Part time or weekend warrior types?
I ask because as fulltimers, meaning that for us we have no other home or property, we wanted what we had in our stick and bricks homes.
A a stackable washer dryer & a dishwasher were a must. We added a fireplace and a central vac later so Jean's comments are quite important about retrofitting.  We removed our propane stove/oven and added a glass cooktop.  I used the room where our oven used to be for a small extra freezer.  We can still boondock if/when we want, we just need to run the generator.  GTfivers comments about generator prep if you think you might want one down the road are spot on.  The same goes for the 2nd a/c or satellite.  We had several things prepped when we ordered ours eons ago.
We have never had the second a/c.  In fact Dutch had to do a bit of work to reduce the amount of air going to the bedroom and bathroom so we could be comfortable if one of us was in the living room and the other in the bedroom.  Now I'm not saying we were sitting pretty when we were in 105 degree windy weather for 4 days a month ago but the shades in the sentence below really, really helped.
Our original day night shades were just ok.  When we did our "redo" this past year we went with a pull down black day screen and a total black out night shade.  It is is a pretty textured taupe/beige color. It was not really for privacy but when it is extremely hot or cold the night shade being down really helps keep us warm/cool.
I decided against the larger fridge because I wouldn't trade my pull out wood pantry for anything.  By having a large good micro/convention it allowed me to get rid of the propane stove/oven that I didn't like anyway.
I can't help with the lino as I only had it in the kitchen and bathroom and went back to wall to wall carpeting when we did our interior.  Toasty, cushy carpeted floors are just the thing for us and no more floors to wash!
Keep us posted on your decisions, it will be interesting to see what you end up with.  Di

Di,

We have been fulltiming for a year now in our current 5er.  I agree with getting all the preps for things I may want down the road.  I am getting most of the preps just in case, except for the gen prep.  We use a portable gen.  Having a double frig is a MUST for us, so we can do w/o the pantry that would normally be there.  We will be getting a washer/dryer combo also.  The wife wants the oven bc we use our current one all the time...she's not a big fan of the conv micro and some things she cooks doesn't fit in the micro.  We will be getting the 2nd a/c for sure.  Replacing the day/night shades is something we will do down the road with some much nicer custom ones our friends in a Class A have.  I do like carpet but with our hounds the all lino option seems like it would be much easier to clean.  Thanks for all your input!  Everything we are ordering on our 36FWS we have in our current 5er, but our current 5er isn't made for fulltiming and the Cameo is just plain better built!  If anyone knows about the all lino option please let me know!  Once we get it ordered I'll let y'all know.

Thanks,
Tim
