We just bought a used  RV Rover to use with our 5th wheel.  Hubby has problems walking any distance.  This unit is hauled in the Receiver Hitch and weighs 350 lbs.  It works like a golf cart, but is smaller and has three wheels with no need for a trailer.  Has anybody  put a receiver hitch on the back of a Carriage?  Ours is a 36 ft. LS.  Since this is not a tremendous amount of weight, we think it will work.  I need opinions and experiences please.  The Rover is made here in Georgia at West Point, GA.

You can put a receiver hitch on a Carriage.  We personally don't have one but if you are looking for someone to put one on, you could try a U-Haul or even contact Camping World.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time for the right person to read your post and reply so please don't give up.  Diana

Thanks Di, our shop can install it, but my question was to folks who had done it.  We wondered how much sway and bounce same would add and I was hoping to hear from someone that had added a hitch and carried a motorcycle or generator, etc. on the back of the 5th wheel.  And would they do it again, or had they removed it because of problems, etc.  Before we go to the expense of adding a receiver, I wanted to hear the experiences of others.

As an aside,  We hope you all are still enjoying your "new 96 unit".  I couldn't help but notice, some of the ones being manufactured now are using the floor plan you have.  For a while it was all windows on the back, now I see some with the entertainment center at the back like yours.  Our 02  is still all good; but I would like to replace the carpet and have a more comfortable couch.  Ours has the recliner seats and the bed, and it does neither of the three functions well.  I think they tried to make it too versatile.

If you guys come our way, we are only 7 miles off I-75 and have an extra 30 amp plug  and water in our side driveway, so give us a call  and come by.  Last winter we had three motorhomes stop by for four days, and we were able to get them all parked  and get electric to each.  Traffic really slowed with four RVs in our yard.  It gave the neighbors something to talk about.

I had a Onan 5500 generator and 12 gallon fuel tank mounted on the back of my last 5th wheel (SOB).  I would not do it again.  I estimated the set-up added ~350 #'s and it drastically changed the ride of the camper, made alot more bounce.  I tried and tried to get more tongue weight, but I was never successful.

As info for anybody else wanting to install a receiver hitch on the rear of your Carriage, I finally talked to someone named Connie (male) in Customer Service and he said that the most we could plan to haul on a receiver hitch would be a bicycle.  350# (using formula equals about 765#) could cause wall separation even....So, I guess we install a receiver on the front of the truck.  Really didn't want it there, but I don't want wall separation.
